Calm The Storm
One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s go over to the other side of the lake.” so they got into the boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in danger.
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are going to drown! He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. “where is your faith? He asked his disciples.”
Right from the beginning of your call, Jesus gave a command that you cross to the other side. He did not exclude himself but said “Let us cross to the other side.” This is a very vital aspect of the call that we must never forget.
The Bible says “looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross and despise the shame” (Heb 12:2).
There is always a joy that is set before us when we received the call of God and that joy is the glory that awaits us on the other side of the lake: It is this joy that keeps us on fire for God to the end: It is as we behold this Joy that we can endure the cross and despise the shame of following Christ; for He Himself passed through the same road in life.
When we received the call, all that is set before us is the joy (glory) the storm is never in the picture. God is the Alpha and the Omega (beginning & the end) when God begins with us, He will always show us the end (joy) but will never reveal the middle of the road to us where the storms lies, because if He do, none of us will ever follow.
The storm is reserved for the mid of the sea for various reasons: –
- No one who puts his hand in the plow look back is fit.
- The storm rises to test our heart for commitment for the course we have signed for.
- The storm is meant to strengthen our faith.
- The storm help us look unto Jesus the Author & the finisher of our faith.
- The storms is the yardstick of our approval, for he that He foreknew He predestined; he that He predestined He called; and he that He called, He justifies; He that He justifies He glorifies.
The glory is always the attraction, but the storms come at the justification period; God searched the heart to know how much to entrust to us in terms of finance, people, and power. Your reaction at the appearance of every storm tells your strength “if you faint in the day of adversity then your strength is small.
It is very important to note that for every storm that rises along our path of life, the solution is right within us. Jesus challenged the disciples that “where is your faith?” Your faith and the word of your mouth is the solution to the storm. The faith aspect is the fact that when God who gave the vision says “Let us cross to the other side,” You must see yourself on the other side; if you have faith in God that “He that called you is able to carry you to the end”, Then even in the midst of the storm you will be able to sleep as Jesus did. For the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep and guide your heart in Christ Jesus Phil 4:6-7
We have to take heed to ourselves these last days. The storm is rising so much that it will be very difficult for the last day saints to cross over. Therefore we must make a deliberate decision of if we perish, we perish but we will push to the end come what may; we will not bow to the god of money (mammon) we will not be led by the forces that rule this world but by the spirit of the living God.
Our precious possession this last days is the Holy Spirit and how much of the word we have within. Therefore, we must all strife to get our heart settled and take on the discipline of simplicity, and put away the desires that pulls our heart to hell through the love of this world.
I see you on the other side; the storm shall not consume you but shall help to make you who God has destined you to be learn to sour like an eagle taking advantage of the storm to the place God has prepared for you.
